DECADES OF SUCCESS

Our Story begins in post-war Finland, with a young pilot-in-training named Aapo Kirkko. After failing pilots school, Aapo took an interest in motor-racing. It was here that he found his natural talent, winning the 1953 and 1955 world titles. He would have a son named Olli, before sadly losing his life in a crash in 1956.

It wouldn’t take long for Olli to become a star, as 16 years after his fathers title he would win the world championship in only his second year of racing. He would go on to win the 1972, 1973, and 1975 titles, making him the most decorated Fin in history. After this he would hang up his helmet, and purchase the team he had so much success with. Thus, Kirkko Racing was born.

After a winless decade in the 80’s, The Kirkko name returned to Success with Alex Kirkko’s win in 1994, 19 years after his fathers last title, and 39 years after Aapo’s.
